The spectrum of epilepsy will be reviewed; common causes of it over the course of a lifetime will be identified and common comorbidities will be discussed. We will also review seizure first aid and resources available through the Epilepsy Foundation.

While California is fourth best in the nation in reducing antipsychotics in SNFs, it remains a hot topic in the LTC profession. Discussion will focus on person-centered, non-pharmacological approaches for individuals with challenging behaviors and mental health issues. The differences between a medical model and person-centered approaches to mental health treatment will be outlined.
